Trains

What has become my whole wide world?
The trip south or the trip north
The time delays and delays expected
The packed carriages and empty stations
This untangled network
Is the cramped feeling of commuters
It’s like hell when it rains
What has become my whole wide world?

The rainbow outside the window
The quick glimpse of a girl next to me
This long trip back home
Has me staring at my reflection
Get on at North Sydney and accompany me home
With you I’m never alone
This place can be peaceful when it’s empty

All through the day we are learning
When it’s time to leave
We are hot and bothered at the platform
Change this place
Our horoscopes are in MX
This trip will take too long on your own
Without anyone else
This trip would slide by so carelessly

All those cramped seats and newspapers
All those stops along the line
What has become my whole wide world?
It’s hell when it rains
Riding these uncomfortable city trains
