It is hard to get a conviction when you are raped and you're a woman; it's even harder when you're a man. The first conviction involving a raped man was in 1995 in the UK - that's not even 20 years ago. You are more likely to be raped in prison if you are a man - let's say you're sent down for a relatively minor crime, does that mean you were asking to be raped (because hey - shouldn't have got himself locked up)? Or deserve it?

As far as domestic violence is concerned, men and women abuse each other at roughly the same rate; however, in England and Wales, there are 7,500 refuge places for women vs 60 for men. Men. Not criminals. Men in abusive relationships who just don't get anywhere near the same level of support or justice as the less than ideal level women get.

It's not that I disagree with your points so much as they demonstrate just how much violence aimed at men is misunderstood or ignored or brushed off. If we were to remove gender from the equation and stop assuming that the man is automatically to blame and simply offer support where needed, we would move a lot closer to the fair and just society those pushing for equality claim to want.
