Vanity Fair -- oh my gosh <3
So, I just finished watching Vanity Fair. Not the new adaptation, but the slightly older 1998 BBC one. I admit that I haven’t read the book - sadly, I typically prefer to read first and watch after but it didn’t work out that way this time - but I do hear that this film adaptation is fairly true to the book (unlike the new one which takes liberties).
I have to say I absolutely LOVED it. Now I can’t wait until Yuletide again :D I think I liked all the principle characters (Amelia, George, William, Rawdon, Jos) despite their respective faults. Everyone except for Becky. OMG. What. A. Bitch. Seriously. See, I hate women like that - pretend they are so sweet and innocent but are actually vicious little backstabbers. I understand she wants to get ahead in society but just agh. No.
She made me think of Scarlett O’Hara but worse…or maybe just much less privileged. Smug little bitch. Anyways, this is so awesome and I totally don’t understand why there’s no fandom for it. I kinda really wish there was. Of course, although the canon William/Amelia and Amelia/George parings are very awesome, I’m already shipping William/George like crazy. I can’t help it, it’s a slashers curse, what can I say.
Anyway, yes, new fandom for me. At least for now :)
