I can't remember if I've done this meme before, but I saw it floating around the flist, so I figured I'd put it up. After all, I LOVE talking about my ships

I'd also be interested in this for Antonin/Bellatrix (disclaimer, I don't think I've read any, I just noticed you'd written a few). Honestly, I haven't given Antonin much thought at all so I'd be interested in hearing about the thought process that led to them, if you're so inclined.
When I started shipping it if I did: Um, IDK, probably from the start when I got into fandom and even started thinking of the ships. It was an easy canon default ship and I liked how it was portrayed in fanon. My thoughts: My headcanon is that they had a semi-arranged marriage. That is that Lucius had picked out Narcissa in their early teenage years for a girl he liked and might want to marry, so when his father asked, he said he wanted to court Narcissa. So the Malfoys and Blacks talked and decided they liked this match so they made up the contracts to have them be betrothed. Lucius and Narcissa started courting and it wasn’t intense at first, but they liked each other and knew they were to be married, so they had a reason to try and get to know each other better. And then the more time they spent together the more they fell in love. Lucius was gallant and intelligent and well educated and he adored her - just the kind of man Narcissa had always imagined she would marry. And Narcissa was like the perfect Pureblood

I'm quite similar, I think I can live with depictions of Lucius and Narcissa not being in love, but not of them not loving each other in some way. To me, their mutual regard and thinking about one another as a team is just not in question, no matter how you slice or dice (or ship) them.
Your Antonin/Bella progression is interesting to read. I've had that experience of a one-off idea becoming a full-blown ship because something about it just "works," and it's pretty awesome when it happens.
