an old grudge: the "kids having sex" scene in IT

For those who have Stephen King’s It, I’m sure you remember the scene where the kids (I don’t remember their exact ages, but the oldest ones had just begun to enter puberty, so like pre-teens or something) have sex in order to escape the sewers/monster. Or rather: the boys gangbang the one girl in the group. Honest to God, this scene always

Huh. It sounds like I would probably dislike this scene, too, but I've never been able to get into Stephen King and am not much for horror in general, so I can only commiserate from afar. Maybe it was supposed to be an allusion to some kind of ancient/pagan/magical sex ritual? Is King into that sort of thing?

Huh no. King is into all sort of mythical stuff, but it's more...scifi-y, I guess? So really, if it was a reference to a pagan ritual it really did not come across and would have been complete out of nowhere.

I get how King might not be for everyone. Although, I thought that between LOTR and all the murder mysteries, he wouldn't be that much out of your way :)
