I think I'll give this show a couple more episodes before I decide, and to it's credit it's less annoying and more interesting than "Damages" - although, that may just be because criminal stuff is more fun for me than civil stuff - but I expected more.
So, ok, apparently being a law student really makes it hard to enjoy shows about lawyers and law school, especially ones that hand wave things and act like the fact that they hand-waved stuff makes their characters badass. No. It just means you're wrong.
I'm not gonna comment on how much some of those courtroom antics made me cringe and how that 1L class was nothing like a 1L class. And I'm not even talking about the style of teaching. I'll let it go because Suits and Law and Order: SVU do it too. Although, honestly, the courtroom scenes seemed really shabbily done to me, even letting formalistic things slide. (SVU does a lot of dramatic things you couldn't do in real life, but in-universe, at least, it looks good. Same goes for The Firm. Here...IDK. Maybe it's a taste thing too?)
Characters. All the students are interesting, I'll give them that. But the prof? I've had some bad professors and wow...she doesn't come even close. (Actually, no, my English 4 AP teacher in high school was a real bitch to. And here's the thing. I didn't want to be ANYTHING like her. I didn't want to be in her class, she didn't inspire me to do anything positive...you get the idea.) When will people realize that being a total asshole =/= cool or admirable. Both of her associates are really annoying, stuck-up jerks too. So basically, when she tells Wes that if he joins her firm he will become someone he actually likes, I'm all like "NOPE NOPE NOPE. I wouldn't want to be any of you." Of course, things do tend to change after you get more character development, so that's why I said I'll give it a few more eps. Now, I just just feel like "why you all wanna put up with this shit?"
But Connor. Oh Connor. You, mon cher, with your lovely canon gay sex scene, are making me very happy just right now :)
