IMO: Frozen is overrated (or maybe it's just Elsa)

I finally watched Frozen. I didn’t hate it but I didn’t love it either. I mean, it was a nice movie, but I strongly feel this movie is kinda overrated. Just my opinion of course, as is all of the following.

Things I liked:
-The princess and regular guy love story. Also, the fact that the love story had some actual build up unlike a lot of fairytales have. (Totally cliché from a general movie perspective, but good coming from Disney.)
-Also, the idea that “love at first sight” is kinda BS.
-Anna! IMO, she’s the real star. (I relate to her/identify with her so much more than Elsa. I also like her as a person/character more, but maybe that’s unfair since Elsa was damaged emotionally.) And if you ask me, she’s the one who actually saved the day.
-The fact that the true love in this movie was sisterly/familial love rather than romantic love.

Things I think are totally overrated:
-Elsa. I mean, I understand: her parents didn’t know how to deal with it, so they dealt with it in not the ideal way but in the only way they knew. So she grew up both not knowing how to control her powers and feeling like the only way she could not be a danger to everyone was to shut everyone out. But that doesn’t change the fact that there’s nothing THAT incredible about her. I’m willing to excuse all her crap because she does it with best intentions and she doesn’t really know how else to deal with everything that’s happening. But that’s about it. Her story is good symbolically: shutting people out and letting fear control you is only going to make the problem worse, but allowing people to reach out (and reaching out yourself) can help solve it. In the end, my opinion is that people are misreading - the idea isn’t “be yourself even if the world goes to hell.” The idea is more like “there are things that you can’t control about you/your life, but you can make a bad thing into a good one if you open up and love and let people love you and figure it out together.” So, yea, as a symbol, Elsa works, but character wise, she’s really quite average. ETA: just to clarify: I'm not trying to bash Elsa or even say she's a bad character. I just feel like she's overrated, given how much attention she gets compared to everyone else.
-“Let It Go.” In the context of this song in the movie, it’s not empowering. It’s irresponsible and selfish. And as just a song, in my opinion, it’s rather average. But that’s a taste thing.
-All the excitement about the prince turning out to be a “bad guy.” Honestly, it’s pretty cliché. Although, I suppose, not so much by Disney’s standards.

I’m not saying anyone should dislike the movie or even share my opinion. But I felt like I needed to form one since this movie has been so all over the place and people have been going to goo-goo over it. *shrug* Glad that’s out of the way.
