OMG YOU GUYS!
I just found out the other night via
caitie that
BBC is doing an adaptation of War and Peace which is due to come out in 2015! (Apparently this was actually announced in early 2013 and I somehow didn't know?)
I'M GOING TO EXPLODE! It's bad enough we have to wait 2 years until the next Sherlock season, I can't seem to find the 2013 Anna Karenina series anywhere, and now I have to wait AT LEAST a year for this? Eeeeeep. BUT. STILL. So excited \0/ Also a little scared? I'm a bit nervous about how they will handle the casting and characterizations and things. As much as I love the 2007 adaptation there were things there that really did not jive well with the actual canon. I'm kinda excited that BBC is capable of actually giving W&P a bit of a fandom, at least in theory, but that only makes me more nervous about how they will handle it. There are some great people behind this but from what I heard the writer (or directer? not sure 100 percent) is kind of a Natasha fan? Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812 playing Off Broadway last year. Apparently, it's a musical in some sort of modern-esque experimental genre which is a loose adaptation of part of War and Peace. Incidentally one of my fave parts ie: when Natasha has her little fling with Anatole. Sadly, from what I understand, musicals don't generally get filmed and sold on DVD. I also guess it's lucky, then, I'm not a huge fan of musicals overall but this did make me curious.
Spring break is almost over. :( I wasn't nearly as productive in any sense as I wanted to be. It kinda just went by in a blur. *sigh* I'm overdue to turn in my draft for History Big Bang. I guess it's a good thing I don't have an artist there (yes) because I may still drop out. RL hasn't been allowing for much writing lately.
Hope everyone is doing well!
