I am still alive.
Football has consumed my soul.
So has school.
I am really disappointed by the curriculum in Duval County Public Schools. So much so that I am considering getting into ESOL instead of straight up English. It depressing how little power teachers have to decide what they teach. You don't even know. They basically have to read scripts and hand out worksheets instead of having real discussions and meaningful tasks. They send people from the district to make sure you're doing what you're told. All because of the FCAT and No Child Left Behind. I came home from my pre-internship the other day and broke down crying to Jeremy. "You become a teacher because of the students. If you're doing something a robot can do you're not making lessons that benefit your students. There is no point. No student remembers the things they learn from filling out a worksheet. They remember by doing. Why send me to a four year college to get a degree when all they want me to do is read a book?"
It seriously had me down.
Maybe my sports journalism career will take off! I am already linked on Fox Sports every week as a part of the AFC South overview. I have been interviewed twice. I was a guest on an internet radio show.
Hahah who am I kidding.
