My extended family are not traditional chinese family. The last time we did the elaborate ritual for CNY is when my late paternal grandpa is still healthy. But we have the habit of gathering at 'anywhere my paternal grandma is currently staying' and have a nice lunch and laugh together.
Well, we did had a lot of fun together yesterday. But we also missing my newlywed cousin who have to attend the CNY ritual with her husband's family.
