Is everyone okay now? I don't really go outside much, so I can't be sure of exactly what happened, but I hope the monster that was attacking everyone was defeated

Shikimi?

[battledancing]

Ah, she's a friend of mine and a fellow Pokemon League member, though from a different region. She's also a novelist, so she would surely be able to help you.

[allephoria]

Ah, she sounds like a very exciting person! Has she written a lot of novels?

[battledancing]

A few, I believe. From what I know, she draws inspiration from real life experiences, often from Pokemon battles.

[allephoria]

Pokemon battles? That sounds really interesting! I wish I could read them.

[battledancing]

Well, it's not the same as reading it, but I can tell you about those novels-- and perhaps about some of my own Pokemon battles, if you'd like. [Now that she thought about it, Cynthia had never really told Chihiro what she did for a living, back home.]

I'd love to hear about both of them.

Let's see... How about I start with my very first Pokemon battle?

[allephoria]

Sure!

[battledancing]

Well, my first battle happened many years ago, when I wasn't even old enough to be a licensed Pokemon trainer, and Garchomp was only a Gible-- so technically it wasn't an official match, but I do think it counts!

[allephoria]

When Garchomp was a Gible...?

[battledancing]

Ah, that's right! In my world, most Pokemon evolve and change forms as they grow stronger. Garchomp is a final stage, preceded by Gible as the basic form and then Gabite.

[allephoria]

So it's like growing up?

[battledancing]

A little bit, yes. Though growing up is a more gradual process, whereas Pokemon evolution brings about drastic change in the blink of an eye.

[allephoria]

It sounds very exciting! Are your Pokemon all done evolving then?
