an evening

Firstly, I didn't go to any of the three concerts the different orgs in my school was having. One, because on the day I decided to buy tickets for one of the mentioned three, those who were selling vanished. They disappeared a week before the event. Sheesh. And two, I delayed my making the decision to buy too long.

Secondly, I at least enjoyed my evening by listening to **Seasons of Koto: an evening of Japanese koto music** held at Abelardo Hall, UP College of Music last night at 6pm. It was held in celebration of the 90th Anniv of the UP College of Music as well as the 50th or 55th Philippines-Japan Friendship Year. Which means, the ambassador of Japan to the Philippines attended the concert as well.

Now, onto the music. The music played was as follows:
  1. Yorokobi (Happiness)
  2. Mura No Matsuri (Village Festival)
  3. Utage (Feast)
  4. Yachiyo-Jishi --> here in place of the shamisen, a guitar was used. the music was transcribed for it but I couldn't hear it over the two kotos.
  5. Sakura Variations -->exclusively/only the guitar was played. again in place of the shamisen. it was so...COOL!!!! XD damn!
  6. Chidori (A Plover) --> here a flute was included in the arrangement. But something was wrong with one of the kotos so the performance was continued but the arrangement was a repeat of the first segment of the whole thing...or so my friends says. As much as I appreciate music I ain't that good enough to recognize such a thing ^^;; So anyway, while they were repairing the koto behind the curtain Nishijima Eisei was honored with words and a "plaque" of recognition for her services (she's the teacher of the instrument, koto)
  7. Shiki No Shirabe (Four Seasons) --> Nishijima-san played here as well as Ms. Raissa Nina Odi, the only certified Filipino teacher of the Koto
All in all,  my evening was fine. Even though in the last moments of the concert it was really pouring outside. And that even though afterward, I broke my umbrella, it was still fine. :D Lightning didn't strike me even as it lit the world around me.

And so, TAKE THAT you people who weren't there selling tickets! >:) I had a much better night than you're concert, I'm sure. Bwahahaha! XD
