NaNoWriMo 2008

So, I've already drafted my plot for NaNoWriMo. This time I am prepared to jump right into writing. I'll just need to fill in the details as I go. I've decided to write fantasy this year. I still have a little world building to do, mainly geography and place names, but I can just make those up as I write.

The basic plot will be that some sailors go looking for a new trade route and discover an island, where they become lost within ancient ruins. The story will be primarily about finding their way out and the trip back. I'm still considering person and perspective. I think maybe I'll have the few survivors tell their own accounts of the journey, which will not all be entirely in agreement. That almost requires a third-person limited point of view unless I have them all sit and tell the story separatey in first person, but I don't want to do that. It would be too repetitive, and would miss the arguing over their disparate memories.
