So, Christmas has come and gone. I've endured the family gatherings without incident. Except my parents have been bickering because they're upset with my final grades, which we just found on Christmas day. I've come to expect this at the end of every semester, but apparently they haven't.
But most importantly, I got stuff. Not a lot of stuff, but good stuff. Mostly good stuff. In particular, I got an 80GB silver iPod Classic. The 80GB are a little more than I need, but I'm putting some Stargate episodes on it, and maybe I'll rip some other things. My brother showed me a nice program called HandBrake for ripping DVDs, so I'm trying that out. I notice that it has a couple iPod presets (high-res and low-res) and handles subtitles. And it comes for Mac OS, Windows, and Linux, with both GUI and command-line versions. Unfortunately, my computer is a little slow, and it's taking forever to encode the H.264 required to play on the iPod.
