I recently started a dream journal to keep track of my dreams, because I always forget them before long. Since I've been writing them down, I'm noticing a lot of things that I never thought were important before. Things like the way people are arranged, or the colors they're wearing might be meaningful. This is already helping me to remember my dreams more accurately and to better understand them.
But my dreams have always had a certain importance to me, ever since I had a weird recurring chase dream when I was a kid which involved me running from a bunch of animals and falling. I thought they might reveal something about me, but I've generally neglected the details.
For a while now, I've been noticing a certain girl appearing in several of my dreams. Sometimes she just stands there, maybe hanging out in a crowd of people. She's always been just another person filling in the dreamscape, but she's become more frequent and involved, and I wonder if it means something.
At first, she was always a stranger, and I ignored her. Then sometimes she would talk to me, but it was awkward because I didn't know who she was. With each dream, she seems to become more familiar.
Her face was always a mystery to me. It was sort of fuzzy and indistinct. But I recently got a better look, and I thought I'd try to solidify it before the image fades in my mind. I used one of Face Research Lab's demos to generate some average faces, selecting those with the features I was looking for. I created four of these images that were close to what I was after. I couldn't get it quite right, so I combined them in Photoshop and then adjusted the shape of the face to what you see now, except she should have long hair, which I didn't bother to add. It wouldn't really obscure her face, so you can just imagine it there behind her head.
I always thought of her as asiatic, but when I look more closely at her features, I think she's a little intermediate.
I don't think she's derived from anybody I've seen in my waking life, but she could be a composite that my mind has put together. I guess the mystery is the thing that interests me most. I don't even know if she has a name. Even as she becomes ever more familiar, I still don't really know who she is.
