Vortaro per Mia iPod

Apr 11, 2006 00:06

Okay, first an update. I have a sinus infection, which kept me out of class on Thursday and Friday. I'm taking giant 875mg Amoxicillin tablets for it now, and I should be done with it in a few days. Now I just have to make up for what I missed...

Okay, now on to the good stuff. I've had my iPod in Disk Mode for a while now (so I could put files and things like Linux on it), which causes it to show a Notes item in the menu. I could turn it off, but I wanted to use it. I tried it with ebooks before and found out the hard way that it limits files to 4kB, which isn't enough. (You have split to split them up into smaller files).

So, I was trying to think of something to do with it. At the same time, I was really wanting to get an Esperanto dictionary I could take with me ... because my vocabulary isn't very good yet. Then it hit me: dictionary = book. I could put one in the Notes in my iPod. And since the Notes are hierarchal, I can stick it in a folder and list letters in separate files. So I did just that. I started last night and cleaned it up today, and now I've got something that's truly worth using. It still doesn't have a huge number of words-about 552 that I copied from this glossary, to which I plan to add more eventually-but it works.

I just put together a nice Goople page to host it. So if you're learning Esperanto, and you can't take lernu! with you, you might take a look...if you have an iPod. In fact, look anyway. It looks nice.
