Every Human has Rights

Dec 04, 2008 18:20

On December 10, 1948, the General Assembly of the UN adopted and proclaimed the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Almost sixty years ago, the fifty-six nations (now 192), summarized, in roughly 1700 words, what they felt were the unalienable human rights all people were born with. This isn't a document I saw until I entered college, despite the UN's decision, request, and efforts to spread this doctrine to the world, especially to schools.

Please take a minute to read this piece and be thankful that there are people out there defending these rights, your rights.

National Geographic made this pretty version available.

Or you can read a simpler version here.
The latter version will allow you to sign the Declaration of Human Rights.
