Serenity/
Firefly universe and was made just for fun! There were at least two awesome Sanji as a Companion from Firefly fics on the Fanforall. I didn't do those but I freaking loved them. San/Luff goodness. Anywho... If you never saw the show then here are a few notes.
Companions (bad ass cortesans and diplomats),
Reavers (ultra violent humans that rape, kill, eat you, and use your skins for clothing and if you're lucky, in that order). I didn't force the mugiwara into firefly counterparts but I think I might have shoved some Jayne or Mal into Zoro just so he would be a little more antagonistic with Sanji.
The cantina was still quiet in the pre-dinner hours, a very good place to talk about important matters...like the potential of taking the passenger Usopp had found while scrounging for parts to fix the Merry.
Tall, good looking, and dressed in some of the finest clothing had ever seen, Nami was already suspicious that someone of high enough standing would be interested in catching a ride, especially from them. From the look of it Zoro agreed from the nearby crate he was sitting. Luffy seemed to be about to let him on regardless without even settling payment.
The whole point of a passenger was to unburden the crew of some of the expense. Without something, they wouldn't be able to fix Merry or restock. Luffy had flat out refused another cargo mission.
"What can you offer us?" Nami had asked, hoping that he was just a harmless idiot with deep pockets.
"I'm a companion...that means I am versed in several things. Culture, strategy, diplomacy, cuisine..." Sanji was forced to stop there as the young captain suddenly grabbed his arms with a half starved look.
"Food?! You can cook for us!?"
The blond pried Luffy off and brushed his deep blue silk robe free from the inevitable creases Luffy had just caused. Nami and Zoro sat up a little straighter...a companion? You didn't find many of those this far out and hardly ever male.
"I will if you give me passage. There is a place I'm trying to find...and other ships don't venture far enough in fear of the reavers or rather those that do don't think they exist." The look on his face clearly indicated he disagreed with that assessment.
"Where is it? Nami is mapping the universe...she's our navigator! There isn't a place she can't find!" Luffy proclaimed proudly as he shoved Nami toward the blond.
She gave Luffy a harsh look before extending her hand, Sanji lifted it and kissed it gently.
"I'm not sure where it is so you're the key to making my dreams come true, my lady."
Nami found herself blushing in what was surely embarrassment. The men in her crew had no idea how to treat a lady and the last time she had been even acknowledged as a woman was back when she was under Arlong's thumb. That had hardly been pleasant. She wasn't quite sure how she should be reacting at this overly polite and flattering treatment.
"What lady?" Zoro snorted in amusement from where he was sitting at seeing their resident hard ass at a loss for words. Nami shot the swordsman a glare and yanked her hand back.
"Wait a minute here...We needed a cook, that's true, and a companion on board will give us increased access but we won't have enough to even get airborne without a little money up front."
"I do have a potential client here. If you can wait till tomorrow I'll give you my portion of the payment not going to the Guild."
Luffy cocked his head in confusion.
"You cook for someone else already?"
"No idiot. You cut him off before he could get to the best part. Companions are high priced whores." Zoro laughed before a lighting fast kick sent him sailing across the room. With his reflexes he had diverted the power of the blow and luckily landed unhurt against the wall and not bloody and through it.
"Companions are also trained in combat and don't like to be called whores...you best remember that!" The blond pulled out a cigarette and lit it defiantly. "Whores are untrained and uncertified amateurs at best."
"Now we're talking." Zoro drew his swords gleefully at the unexpected challenge and stalked back over to the blond. Nami stepped between them and smiled at the new comer.
A classy, handsome guy who can cook, open political doors, bring in lots of coin, fight on Zoro's level, and treat her with the respect she deserved? A man who wanted to be with them? He truly was a harmless idiot with deep pockets...a dream offering sent to Nami from heaven.
"Welcome aboard Sanji."
Luffy grinned at his navigators acceptance and Zoro seemed about to protest but ended up just shrugging and sending the blond a 'this isn't over' glare.
"I can assure you, Miss Nami...with someone like you by my side the pleasure is all mine." The blond offered with honest appreciation.
She definitely could get used to this.
