I've just discovered that the wireless modem that my Internet provider installed in my apartment is broadcasting their public wireless network SSID and thus providing anyone with Internet access via the cable that is in my apartment. I wonder how legal that is. Will try to investigate.

UPD: My bad, I didn't describe the situation completely. The router now basically functions as two access points: one for my home, WPA-protected network (which was mentioned in my contract), and one unprotected public network. I'm prohibited access to router settings by the provider. Anyone can use "my" router to connect to the provider's network and purchase Internet time, then they will be able to access Internet via "my" router. Whether this will affect my service quality, I don't know yet.
