WOAH, "restaurant with inedible food"?!? And "again"?! Keeping my fingers crossed for you! Not only regarding the gift, but of course also for fighting the flu! EAT MANGOS! Honestly!
My last birthday, she and my brother gifted me with an invitation for a meal... in a restaurant they'd chosen that offered only traditional Bavarian fare (which is usually pretty iffy with me, because I prefer lighter food that hasn't been drowned in sauce and fat, and often straddles the border to vegetarian). Not that my family doesn't know (or at least, shouldn't be aware of) my preferences.
Still, I got dragged there one day for another celebration. Out of options and in a bout of nostalgia, I decided to order the least of all the evils in the menue, which happened to be "Schäufele" (= pork shoulder with crust). Well, the crust was soft and disgustingly slimy instead of crispy, and the whole meal tasted like the cook had put absolutely no love/effort/interest (or seasoning) in it. Yech. I didn't even choke down half of it.
So, really, thanks a lot for that thoughtful gift. Really. Shouldn't one pick a present they think the recipient wants? Like, maybe an invitation to a restaurant in line with my tastes
( ... )
Totally! ^^ I'm glad that my brother and I agreed long ago on not giving each other presents for Christmas (and in effect - since we don't see each other often - also for birthdays). Maybe you could do the same? Or at least use an Amazon wishlist or so next time? Would probably be easier for everyone...
