Red states and blue states

You know, there was a time when my comic collection consisted entirely of Marvel Comics. X-titles, Wolverine, Avengers, Silver Sable, etc.

Which isn't to suggest they're not all still there. They're still the lion's share of the collection.

But I don't quite remember when was the last time I actually BOUGHT a Marvel comic. Over the past few years, my purchases have been almost exclusively DC (although, while my Marvel comics are dominated by X-People, my DC comics are dominated by Gotham people).

Consequently, I don't have plans to see X-Men 3 in theaters.

And Superman Returns is No. 1 on my priority list. (Granted, I don't really collect or read Supes titles, but I watched S:TAS a lot, and there WAS a time I wrote a lot of Justice League fics.)

You can probably tell whether someone prefers DC or Marvel by which movie they're more interested in.

I think I'll see X3 eventually - I caught X2 on HBO when it started airing. But you know, I don't really mind if I have to wait another year to see it. (Even if Mystique's in it again.)

But I expect SR to be like Batman Begins. (Plus, it's Kevin Spacey!)

Speaking of DC, I owe someone a ficlet on Helena and Babs.

From the TV series.

Oy. That show was such a disappointment. But, I've done my research. At least I don't have to write a story about that dishrag _Dinah_. They never should have brought Lori Loughlin to play the real Black Canary. She made Dinah look even paler by comparison.

What do you call Dinah Lance with TK and little fighting skills to speak of?

I don't know, but not Black Canary.

(Of course, I think TV producers give telekinesis to superheroes when they don't know what to do with the powers they already have. Raven's shadow-self, healing, and teleportation wasn't "sexy" enough for Teen Titans, so they gave her TK. Black Canary, except for her canary cry, is a lot like Huntress. So they gave her TK to set her apart from Helena. My question is, why not just pick someone whose powers you CAN work with? They should've ignored Raven and picked someone like Wonder Girl or Kid Flash . . . although the subject is moot, since I wouldn't have liked the show anyway. Why am I even talking about it?)

Anyway, I'll get excited about Superman Returns once I get back from Los Angeles. It's hard to get excited about a movie when you have a convention first.

Sincerely, Allaine
