In her first interview¹ since Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was released, J.K. Rowling reveals more about the fate of some of the characters after the climax. Naturally, this article is full of ( Spoilers. )
Some time ago I had it in my head that Harry would end up as the ongoing DADA teacher. He was pretty much doing it in Order of the Phoenix.
I was thrilled when Neville got his Gran's acceptance and she even showed up to fight along with him.
I would almost think that Harry, Ron and Hermione would receive degress none the less, as they were on an assignment from their headmaster that would vanquish one of the biggest big bads ever.
Yeah, but Harry only did that because he had to. Harry's the sort that has to be out there doing something, protecting people, etc. Forming an army is one thing; simple ordinary teaching year-in, year-out isn't. He doesn't have the right kind of drive for teaching; he wouldn't even have been a good student without the help of Hermione and the motivation provided by Voldemort.

Azkaban does exist, only sans dementors. But, given that the Malfoys had something of a change of heart near the end (and their willingness to donate tons of money to the ministry), they managed to escape Azkaban. (JK Rowling specifically said that about Lucius, who was certainly due a life sentence in Azkaban; but even if Draco had been charged with anything and sent to Azkaban, I don't think he would have still been there 19 years later.)
