Closed; Jonah, Drew

It's true that Terry was barely home, but it was odd finding the loft completely empty. However, there were tons of empty Chinese food containers strewn around so he knew his brother hadn't been here long ago. After showering, and changing into a new set of clothes, Terry felt way cleaner. While he felt comfortable at Daphne's, there was something ( Read more... )

Jonah was digging through some boxes he had stuffed in his guest room. He and Drew had only briefly touched upon sharing a flat and it had sparked Jonah's memory of shoving everything he didn't know what to do with in what would become Drew's new room. Of course, his cousin was somewhere. Instead of helping, more than likely in the kitchen grabbing a second beer or was it a third?

When the knock came at the door, Jonah straightened up, tossing an old stuffed animal on the bed before heading to front of the flat.

He didn't expect to see Terry but that didn't mean he wasn't properly excited to see his older cousin.

"Finally manage to pull yourself away from Daphne's face?" he teased.

"I came up for some air... Needed some chapstick." He let a half smirk creep on his face, and pushed past Jonah to let himself in.

"Where are your manners, Linney? Let me in."

Terry surveyed the land, half expecting Drew to be behind his cousin. "Where's Drew-bee?"

Only Terry's raspy voice could get away with drawling out Drewbee. And yet, it was actually a pure term of endearment.

Jonah had known Drew literally his whole life which meant that he knew him very well. He was, indeed, grabbing a beer from the fridge. Though, it was his fourth. Moving boxes made him thirsty.

"Hey, who's that?" he called, hearing his cousin at the front door. Curious, he come out and turned the corner. His ears perked up at the sound of Terry's nickname for him.

"Well look who showed up!" Drew was grinning from ear to ear.

"His lips are chapped," Jonah said, coming in behind both of them. He said the words in a very deliberate, affected manner, that signature Linney sarcasm peeking through his tone.

"He's come to get some fresh air-" he continued, not quite finished with the joke. "Alright- I'm finished, and mostly just bitter you were spending time with your girlfriend and I've been spending time with this one-"

He jerked his head in Drew's direction.

"Quit crying, Linney," he replied affectionately, taking the beer right from Drew's hands. "Have another cold one, it will help ease the pain. I'm here now."

Only these blokes got Terry into a good mood immediately. When he met them originally, they were probably convinced he didn't know how to have fun. But their good moods and mocking natures were infectious and he couldn't help but join in.

"Okay, I don't want to know anything about your chapped lips after your nights with Daphne," Drew said quickly, swatting the idea away with his hand. It just seemed wrong.

Then he looked down at his beer, completely untouched. He reached out and offered it to Terry as he entered the flat.

"Here, man. Get comfortable," he said, nodding towards the plush sofa. "Maybe if we get you drunk, you'll stay in one place."

Jonah moved round them both to head into the kitchen, eyeing the pile of dirty dishes in his sink and wondering when he was going to get the time to do them. Or, you know, have his wand work its magic. (Literally.) He grabbed two bottles and handed one to Drew in replacement of the one Terry snatched.

"So how's the misses?" he asked, raising his eyebrows. "Finally popped the question?"

He only asked in teasing- as was his thing. He'd been joking about it with Terry for years now.

Terry had been swigging his beer, but stopped abruptly. "Actually," he started, hand scratching behind his head, "I was about to."

His other hand pulled out the small box from Eleanor's. Terry popped it open for the boys to see.

Drew's eyes nearly popped out of his own head. That could have easily been the biggest diamond he had ever seen.

"Seriously, man? Good for you!" He slapped his brother across the back, actually a little taken back by the whole thing. Sure, they busted on Terry about proposing all the time. Drew knew the time was coming but he didn't think Terry would be so casual about it.

"I was not expecting you to be serious, mate-"

Jonah glanced down at the ring, swallowing as he took in just how big it was. He looked back up at Terry, noticing the smile on his face and he couldn't help but laugh. He grinned.

"That's fantastic- about bloody time, I'd say!"

Terry gave a shrug, it was almost comical even. He shut the box back and shrank it to fit back into his pocket. "Well I'm finally established," he replied, sounding exasperated. He'd been through this before. "Besides that I finally got her grandmum's approval."

The last part there was said a bit under his breath, feeling like it sounded ridiculous.
