Drew?

Terry hated being home. He had hated it at his old house, and he hated it still in his new one with all the extra people always around. He wasn't used to having a pesky little stepsister, a somehow always topless stepbrother, or a nagging stepmother who was always asking him about laundry or some other pointless drivel in attempts to make conversation with him. It was so transparent and mind-numbingly boring.

His Dad, Colin, had met the new Mrs. Boot at work. For weeks on end last summer Terry had heard his father mentioning outings and random facts about his now stepmother, but he hadn't thought much of it. Due to Colin's completely nonexistent dating life, Terry never assumed the old man would ever settle down. Terry felt he had been able to read his father pretty well, until the day he broke the news. Colin and Terry bared many similarities-- they each paid extreme attention to detail, in both people and everyday life. As an investigator for the Ministry of Magic, Colin prided himself in training his son to be a people reader.

So you can imagine, when this rather ordinary lady entered the picture, how Terry couldn't help but wonder why his own father didn't see the same transparencies that he did. Was there something about love that made you overlook such things? It, as many other of his thoughts, brought him back to his relationship with Daphne.

Chewing lightly on his apple, Terry paced the yard, unsure what to think of this new home. How did his thoughts always guide him back to Daphne? She would probably redecorate the entire place. He couldn't help but smile a little at the thought. He took another bite, and sat down on an old bench, looking out into his new backyard property.
