Of course, Jin had been counting down the days until Christmas. It wasn't something he usually looked forward to-- or cared about, even in the slightest. But this year was different... This was the soonest chance he'd get to make up for missing Takaya's birthday... and messing up his belated birthday.

Still, he had no idea what to get him. Even for his birthday, he'd only asked for Jin to bake him a cake, but clearly Jin wasn't capable of such a simple task. No, it was definitely much safer just to buy something. But what to buy...?

Here it was, Christmas Eve, and he still didn't have the answer-- or, more importantly, the present. Takaya said he liked simple things... But of course, "simple" was too complex of a concept for Jin to grasp. He'd even risked going to the mall, despite the crowds, although he felt that the crowds themselves would hide him should any S.E.E.S. members happen to be there. Looking about from store to store, he saw few things which could even remotely be considered a "useful" present ( ... )

Upon hearing the door open and Jin call out, Takaya got up out of the chair, "Welcome home, Jin. You were out for a rather long time. You didn't run into any trouble, did you?"

Takaya didn't particularly want to have to worry about S.E.E.S the rest of today and all of tomorrow because of another slip up on Jin's part. He didn't want to have to punish Jin again so close to Christmas.

((OOC:IT'S OK, I STILL ♥ YOU))

Jin stood awkwardly towards the front door still, doing his best to hide the present behind his back, although perhaps that wasn't even necessary. It was Christmas now, wasn't it?

"It was... crowded," Jin laughed nervously. He was silent for a few moments before deciding that he should just get it over with, so he walked toward Takaya and bent his head low, holding out the package. "Th... This is for you!!"

"Oh?" Takaya looked at the gift in Jin's hands and began to feel guilty again. Why did Jin have to bother getting him anything? He tried to smile the best he could as he accepted the package, "You didn't need to get anything for me."

Takaya looked away from Jin as his face heated up with embarrassment, "I.. didn't get you anything. I'm sorry."

Jin shook his head. "N-No, it's better that way, really!" he insisted. "This isn't even really anything amazing..." He shook his head again. "G-Go ahead and open it!"

He watched excitedly, his eyes lit up, as he waited for Takaya to complete his request.

Takaya smiled as he saw how excited Jin seemed to be. Even though he still felt guilty, regardless of what Jin had said, he was sure he could find something he wanted. He would just have to ask.

He slowly opened the gift, discarding the wrappings onto the chair behind him. Holding the unwrapped contents in his hand, he smiled, "A blanket.. How thoughtful. Thank you." he leaned forward and kissed Jin's cheek.

Jin smiled back, glad that Takaya liked his gift. "You're sure it's not too lame?" Jin laughed, since thought it was a pretty pathetic choice, but... At least it was useful.

He blushed further as he scratched the back of his head, gathering the words. "I'm... not really good at saying things like this, but... Merry Christmas?"

"Merry Christmas, as well." it did sound a little odd to say it, but it was Christmas after all.

"There must be something that you would like." Takaya questioned Jin, determined to return the favour, "It's too late for me to get something now, but maybe sometime later. I couldn't think of anything to get for you."

He looked at the blanket in his hands, "I should know you better considering how long we've known each other."

Jin leaned forward and embraced Takaya tightly. "Everything I want is right here..." he blushed, still embarrassed to say stupid, cheesy things like that, but... It was the truth. Looking down at the blanket, Jin smiled. "You have... no idea how long it took to end up with that," he admitted.

"Still," Takaya pressed on, "there must be something else you want. You went through the trouble of getting me something and I would like to return the favour to you."

"You were out for so long I thought perhaps you had run into a member of S.E.E.S." he laughed a little, glad that his assumption had been wrong.

"Really, there's nothing," Jin assured him. He didn't want to bring it up again, but he felt compelled to add, "A-After I messed up your birthday and all... And after that..."

He bit his lip. He really shouldn't have said anything. It wasn't like Takaya would get upset again, but... He'd just be showing him how much he was dwelling on the past...

Takaya sighed. Was he still thinking of something that happened nearly two months ago? At the time, the last thing he been concerned about was his birthday. He was focused on finding Jin.

"Stop thinking about that. What good does it do to constantly think of the past?" he shook his head, "You didn't ruin my birthday. A birthday is no different than any other day. Besides," he smirked down at Jin, "You already made up for that."

Jin blushed at the memory. He was so focused on his errors again that he'd nearly forgotten that it was all cleared up... That time, they...

He blushed further. "Y-Yeah," he agreed. "It's just... For things beyond my control, I don't mind moving on. When I was the cause of it, it's a little harder to let go..."

"It might be harder, but you still have to do it. There's no easy way about it, you just have to stop thinking about the incident. Eventually it may become easier, but until then, you have to start somewhere."

Holding the blanket in one hand, he took his other and placed it on Jin's cheek, "I already forgave you for what you did. You've got to stop thinking about that and work on bettering yourself. I've noticed you're doing better when it comes to obeying orders. It seems you learned your lesson the last time you were punished. I'm pleased with this."

Jin smiled back at Takaya. "If you noticed an improvement, I'm glad," he replied, placing his hand on top of Takaya's before turning to kiss his palm. He then turned toward Takaya again and leaned forward, kissing him on the lips.

"Hmm," he mused aloud with a slight smirk. "You're already so warm-- I wonder if you'll get any use out of that blanket."

"I'm sure it will come in handy, I do get cold sometimes." he often did get cold, especially around the chillier months, he just chose not to notice it. But he would make sure to at least try and put the blanket to some good use. He did like to nap in the chair out here often, so maybe it really would be of some use, "You can use it too, of course."

"I've never put much thought into this holiday, but being able to spend it with you and Chidori in such a nice place.." he looked around the house, "I don't mind it as much."
