[So, the Persona users and the Asura came up with a couple plans on how to handle things. Most of them boiled down to kicking ass and taking their friends back ( Read more... )

[Ignoring the chaos in the base, and just... typing something into a terminal. Might have just hit send.]

[Typity-typity-type-type-type.]

Miyagi Chiharu, I presume? I loved your earlier work. You really should consider film; your talent's wasted on these TV spots.

Cut me some slack, it's a bit of hobby of mine. When I'm not leading shadow wars against beings not thought to exist or hunting down rogue agents or demon cults, I'm a film student.

[Typing still.] So, your guys'll probably be in here in a matter of minutes, so I'll cut the chit-chat. What do you want?

Something about this whole operation just stunk. There wasn't any reason for us to mobilize now. We'd all been called here to keep an eye on things after the Prime Minister showed up dead, and then it was to bring in the Canadian Persona user, but that mission failed.

So I was left scratching my head, going, why did we go active now? And why in the hell are we capturing these users but not transporting them off the island? We've got the boats to do it.

No backup was coming, no clear mission briefing, hell, I didn't even know about the lockdown until the day of. It didn't make any sense. All I could figure was, well, they didn't mean for us to succeed.

And now my suspicions are pretty much confirmed.

Quick queistion, though. Who tipped you off to this base? You guys already won. I just wanted to know for my own sake.

...That fucking cat. Undermined every rule we run by, and he's probably going to outlive me, too. You know the same summoner's angel killed someone, it looks like? Unawakened civilian, too. I should have killed Masami when I had the chance.

And yeah, I'm working with you. Here's how it goes. I'm going to press send now, like so.

[Click.]

And with that, my superiors just got my message back, where I declared the mission a failure, and the line of communication so badly messed up I'm forced to list them all as MIA, until the lockdown's lifted. Would you let the other agents know that for me?

Hold on. There's another message I need you to relay.

You see, this means they can do what they want. Re-establish contact with headquarters if they want, or help you guys with this other threat, or whatever. Anyone listed as MIA, that is, everyone but me, is basically at their leisure to come up with a reason they were out of touch.

But, as the Adjudicator and the operations leader, I'm the one in charge, which means that the failure falls on my head. And for an Adjudicator, the only thing that even partially mitigates failure of one's duties is their death in the line of said duties.

So. We're going to finish talking, and you're going to let everyone on your side know that, I am going to be out there now, to the full extent of my own abilities, and that their options are to either kill me, or to die trying.

I know, it's a bit dire but, it's also the only way for me to sow up the loose ends in this little conspiracy. Besides... A good captain goes down with the ship.

Yeah, I'm the captain, but, well, ask my old coworkers - I've got a reputation for being a bit of a stubborn jerk, too.
