Gekkoukan // After School // March 14 GRADUATION EVENT

Mar 26, 2009 22:28

*In the auditorium, the principal gives his epic slow speech, before turning the stage over to the valedictorian for their speech. Surprise of surprises, Minato of all people walks out to take the podium. Bet you didn't know he was that smart. He starts out hesitantly, but soon smooths out to deliver his speech.*

... I first came to this school two years ago, transferring from another city. I didn't think much of it at the time- It was simply another school, I would complete my education or move again. Over time, however, things changed. I came to like this place, this school. Leaving it is a sad occasion for me.

However, I have the memories, and bonds with friends I made here. Perhaps it is inappropriate for a valedictorian to be saying this, but I don't think grades are the important part of school. What was important was the bonds we made with friends here. Those are more important than the diploma we seniors are receiving, or the grades on report cards our underclassman are getting.

Everything has to end. Sometimes, those things end sooner than you expect, because the world is unpredictable. Those who you care about who are here today may not be tomorrow. That's why, more than possessions or grades, the most important thing is to enjoy your time with friends. Later in life, more than your classes or skills acquired in this place, it is those memories you will treasure most.

I, as well, will treasure all my memories and days I spent in this place. I thank you all for allowing me to have such an enjoyable time here.

*He bows, and leaves, giving the principal the podium back. An incredibly boring speech later, everyone is turned loose to go mingle with each other as they get their stuff and leave. Go, bother each other, talk about the corny speech, or whatever. Be glad you're free.*
