>Heathen Name: Don't have one... yet
It is fine if you don't; they are not mandatory. In fact they can be down right silly at times with folk walking around with Icelandic/O.N./etc. names they can barely pronounce. The 80's was full of such buffoonery.
>Current residence in Miðgarð: Currently I'm still stuck in Central New York State
There are worst places. Enjoy that piece of Middangeard and what it has to offer.
>Patron Deity (if any): I feel close to Njord & Nerthus, though Odhinn & Thor insist upon stealing my attention more often than not, Odhinn in particular.
If you feel close to particular gods then you should cultivate that. But also remember a 'patron deity' is not mandatory in our way. We are a way with many gods who should be acknowledged as a whole just as much as individually. In the end they DO work as a team to ward the holy enclosures.
>Religious/Spiritual Background: Protestant, rather loose. Then at 12 I was introducted to Wicca (please don't cringe... I didn't really practice, though I was definitely considering becoming full-fledged Wiccan), then I branched out to Celtic Recon about two years ago. Then I found Heathenry...
There are as many ways to heathenry as there are folk. I can only advise that our way is not some 'flavour of the month' in the realm of spirituality but is actually a way of life encompassing all aspects of day to day existence. This requires work and dedication to derive the full benefits of living the heathen life. . .but then again anything worthwhile requires that.
>Position on Asatru Fault Lines: I'm not sure what this means, but since I don't consider myself Ásatrú it probably doesn't matter.
As a newbie to our way, take care of these fault lines for you can all too easily fall into the cracks and become discouraged, or get chewed up in the machinations of the various camps. I know that sounds negative but the reality is we tend to 'eat our own' as egos and ideologies get in the way. This of course is nothing new with humans.
>Type of Religious Practice: I am an eclectic pagan. But Northern Trad. & Celtic practices are combined in my practice, more Northern than Celtic though. Also a bit of Slavic. The reasons for this are because I am of Germanic & Celtic background, along with a disputed Slavic background. I just go to the gods that call me... Currently though I go by "Celtic Heathen" or simply pagan. Either works.
Don't slap on labels at this point until you are sure what is right for you. Labels can mislead and take one in the wrong direction. Eclecticism can also be a sign of indecisiveness or lack of clarity, and at its worst one of novelty--the plague of modern society. Rigorous self-examination and evaluation will help elucidate matters.
>Religious Community: None really. I have the internet. It is a great resource.
If it is your desire for face to face contact, then keep looking but with great care given the sicko and weirdo factor out there. You live in a region apparently crawling with heathens of various stripes so it wouldn't be too hard to find folk if at any time you wish to reach out.
>Education: Almost out of high school... I'm quite young, I know...
We shan’t hold this against you. ;-))
