....lest the lack of updates leads someone to believe that I've mysteriously vanished. The reason for the lack of updates is the lack of shit going on in my life. However in the last monthish (I think) since my last update of compiled various "things". First: Sears is the Devil.
I have a wedding at the end of this week that I will be attending in Vancouver. It being a big, fat, fob wedding, I have to look my best as everyone that I will be meeting for the first time (which will be the groom's side which is about 2/3 of the 450 people that will be attending) will be judging me on my appearance. So I saw in the Sears catalogue a set of pinstriped suit separates that not only looked really nice but also were on sale. Two weeks ago I decided to order said separates. I was able to order that pants but was told by the lady on the phone that the catalogue allotment for the jacket in both colours that the jacket came in and in the possible sizes that would fit me were out of stock. She did tell me however that the jacket could be in stock on sears.ca. Fine, I ordered the pants over the phone and told her that I would get the jacket online. I log onto sears.ca, see the jacket and notice that it was available in the colour/size that I wanted. I click add to basket and go through all the steps to have the jacket shipped to the Nelson Sears store. I get to the last step where I would normally confirm the order only to be told that the jacket was out of stock. If the fecking jacket was out of stock, why the Hell wasn't that indicated at the store-front where I was looking at all the other merchandise?! And to top it all off, they refused to offer a substitution. So on Friday when I get to Vancouver at about 14.00, I have to beat it downtown from my hotel (E. Hastings on the Burnaby side of the PNE) and get a suit at Moores. UGH!
Last weekend my brother Luigi had his grad. I had forgotten how long and boring these ceremonies were. The grad class has 212 students, so yeah. This year's grad was held at the new Civic Centre, which made it feel as if we were at a hockey game. The concession stand even stayed open during the whole thing. And for what? To have 1500 people see the events instead of the 1200 at the school. At least at the school we everyone could see what the grads were wearing at the Grand March.
Luigi and I after the ceremony... God I'm fat...
Same weekend as grad, I participated in my second Italian referedum. This one was to approve a change to the constitution by former prime minister Silvio Berlusconi prior to this year's election that changed the electoral system to place more emphasis on proportional representation. Berlusconi made this change in order to boost votes for his right-wing coalition that ultimately lost. As I think Berlusconi is a douche with his fingers in too many pots, I voted against the change. As my dad has neo-fascist tendencies (he's supports the AN, which is the latest reincarnation of Benito Mussolini's MSI) he voted to approve the change. Hehehehe... I cancelled out his vote. What strikes me about Italian referenda are the ballots...
First of all, its orange and 11x17 inches. If you know what the text is of the modification to part two of the constitution approved by Parliament and published in the Official Gazzette #269 on the 18th of November 2005 is, this ballot is also idiot proof.
