Tobey, Usher and Ben Join Full Press On Service Funding
by: Tim | July 24th, 2009
Congress is deep into the process of deciding funding for the Serve America Act, and our ServiceNation Ambassadors Council has weighed in with a letter to Senators Tom Harkin and Thad Cochran, who are key Senate appropriators. The letter was signed by Tobey Maguire, Usher, and Ben Stiller, and says in part:
As members of the ServiceNation Ambassadors Council, our goal is to raise up and shine a light on those unsung heroes who serve our communities and our country. We are dedicated to following and promoting the example these heroes set every day so that others, too, may follow their lead and make service truly integral to our culture and to what it means to be an American.
On March 26, you and 77 of your Senate colleagues voted to authorize the Edward M. Kennedy Serve America Act, laying the foundation to make this vision possible. We are writing today to thank you for your strong support of service, and to respectfully urge you to fully fund President Obama’s request for national service and social innovation.
