The alley behind Caritas, Saturday morning

Aug 09, 2008 10:08

As part of his Saturday morning ritual that nobody ever saw, Jolee had been cleaning up the bar. Anything that wasn't nice and tidy by the time he closed up last night was taken care of this morning. He carried a bag out to the garbage in the alley when he was surprised by a bizarre little creature. "What are you?" he asked the creature, putting the bag down so he could take a closer look. Fur, bill, webbed toes. He'd spent two decades in the Shadowlands, but he'd never seen something quite like this.

After deciding that the thing wasn't hostile, Jolee reached back for the bag.

And that's when the platypus struck, stabbing Jolee in the hand with its spur. Jolee stepped back and noticed swelling in his hand and some severe pain starting at the wound. Jolee reached into the Force and pushed the creature back several feet before turning his attention to his wound. As poisons went, this wasn't nearly as bad as kinrath venom. It hurt, but it probably wouldn't kill him.

He concentrated and let a Force healing technique he knew do its job. Within seconds the venom was neutralized and the pain subsided. The swelling was also down a little. He would let it go down the rest of the way naturally as a reminder that things like that creature could still be dangerous.

"I've obviously been out of the Shadowlands too long," he muttered as he put the bag into the trash before heading back inside.
