Katashi - Kunzite
Yuuki - Zoicite
Naoki - Nephrite
Minoru - Jadeite
The small girl stood at the edge of the pier crying. She appeared to be around three years old and had a head full of bright red curls that had been pulled into what resembled heart shaped knots on either side of her hairline. Both men looked at each other as they came across her slightly shaking form in the otherwise empty park, but it was the blonde haired man that made the first move to approach her.
Katashi pulled back on Yuuki’s arm, ever the cautious one - a habit that he had somehow inherited although no one could be sure from where since his parents had always been quite the opposite. Rather than proceed forward, Katashi started to reach for his cell phone, thinking it best to call the police and report the lost child rather than risk scaring her by their presence.
Yuuki wouldn’t hear of it and shook his arm free to approach the small girl in only a few large steps. Despite his extreme intelligence and calculating nature, he still rushed into things headfirst when he felt compelled to - a trait he probably gained from spending too much time with Naoki. Katashi gripped the cell phone in his hand tightly, the first 2 digits of the emergency number entered as he watched Yuuki’s hand come to rest on the shoulder of the small girl.
She spun around quickly to reveal a balloon clutched to her chest, a crystalline tear sliding down her check. Katashi watched the tear as it brightly glistened almost unnaturally as it fell from her eye and landed on the ground. Her lips pulled into a large smile and the balloon in her hands reflected a bright light along its surface, the glare nearly blinding. Yuuki leaned back ever so slightly, his eyes growing unfocused and his hold on the girl becoming slack as his arm fell uselessly to his side. Katashi tensed as his eyes glanced quickly to the sky to reaffirm that the sun was still safely tucked away behind thick gray clouds leaving no natural reason for the existence of that light.
“Yuuki!” Katashi called, his cell phone dropping to the ground, the hard casing cracking against the pavement as he knocked his friend away from the small girl, and in the same fluid motion, lifted her up into his arms. “What are you?” he growled at her, his clothing being replaced by his sudden transformation into a white jacket and brown leather pants with a dark blue cape hanging from his shoulders.
Yuuki stared in shock as his friend transformed after having not bothered to make sure that they were truly alone and no one had been looking. (Minoru would surely call him a liar when he told him later!) “Katashi!” Yuuki said quickly. “Put down her down!” Katashi’s eyes narrowed and light growl was evoked from his lips. “You’re going to get an earful from my mom if you hurt her favorite niece!” Yuuki continued knowing that everyone feared the wrath of his mother. She had been described as being rather intense more than once....
Katashi refused to lower his guard, but did kneel down from his tall height and placed the little girl’s feet back onto the wooden pier, his hands not releasing her lest she attempt to run or do the same magic trick to him. “Niece?” he asked cautiously. “Who are you?” he demanded of the child, almost feeling silly for interrogating a child like one would a murderer.
The small girl smiled and her tilted lightly to the side. In her adorable high pitched voice she answered chirpily, “Chibichibi!”
