“Ami-chan?” Minako asked in a bored tone as she flipped through a magazine in disinterest.
Ami knew that when Minako used that tone that trouble was never far behind. “Yes, Minako,” she answered nervously, keeping her textbook firmly in front of her face.
“Remember last week when you used that great new attack?”
“Yeah…”
“We’ve had a couple of battles since then and never once have you used that mirage attack again. That seems like a bit of a waste, don’t you think?” she drawled.
Usagi’s head popped up from the English book that she had previously been frantically flipping through. “Minako’s right. Why not?”
“Ami will use it again when she feels like it,” Makoto spoke up in Ami’s defense.
“Shouldn’t you two worry about studying for your entrance exams,” Rei scolded as she turned the page on her manga.
“Rei-chan doesn’t have to study….” Usagi whined. “I want a snack.” She turned her sad puppy dog eyes to Makoto. “Did you bring any more snacks, Mako-chan?” she pleaded in desperation as she grabbed her stomach.
“Of course, Usagi-chan,” Makoto laughed as she pulled an extra bento box from her bag. “I purposely saved this one for you.”
“We’re not changing the subject yet,” Minako insisted. There was no changing Minako’s mind when she was determined…. “Ami….” she prompted.
“Well…I…I guess….I just - I don’t know,” Ami finally admitted, scratching her head.
“What made you use it last time?”
“It musa wuv welter!” Usagi exclaimed with her mouth full. Rei sighed and rolled her eyes, her attention shifting back to her manga. Usagi quickly swallowed the mass of food in her mouth before repeating herself. “It was a love letter. Ami is terrified of love letters.” She resumed chomping on the sweets in front of her.
“A love letter?” Minako mused. “So all you need is a love letter?”
Ami’s cheeks started to turn red just at the thought of a love letter. “Usagi is mistaken,” she laughed nervously as she brought her book back in front of her eyes. ‘That darn Mercurius,’ she thought to herself. ‘If I ever find out who he is...I’ll Aqua Mirage him back to where ever he came from!’
“It just so happens,” Minako started to exclaim as she reached into her bag and jumped to her feet, “that I have a whole bunch right here!” She held the offending letters with their red hearts drawn on the envelopes in front of Ami’s face.
“No!” everyone shouted out in unison. The temperature of the room quickly plummeted and the girls jumped on Minako, tearing the envelopes from her hand.
“Where did V-chan get all of these letters?” Usagi asked as she turned the envelopes over in her hands, her backside planted firmly on Minako’s back.
Rei grabbed one of the letters from Usagi and ripped it open, her body sitting Minako’s right shoulder. She scanned the letter quickly and her face turned red at the contents. “Minako!” she gasped.
“What is it?” Makoto asked from where she was seated on Minako’s left shoulder.
“Minako wrote these letters to herself. After reading one too many romance novels apparently,” she added as an afterthought.
Minako chuckled from underneath the heap. “I’m practicing for when I’m a famous idol and I start receiving these by the treeful.”
“Bushel,” Ami squeaked out her correction from where she safely remained behind her book.
“Same thing,” Minako said airily as she attempted to wave her hand from underneath Rei’s weight.
The girls lifted themselves off the blonde and returned to their original seats.
Minako picked up her magazine again and resumed flipping aimlessly through the pages. “Usagi-chan?” she asked in the same bored tone.
“No, Mina!” they all yelled together.
“Fine!” Minako exclaimed, pouting as she turned back to her mindless page turning. “I’ll wait to ask Artemis later.”
