Aside from all the terrible jokes I wanted to make about the title, The Coming of Arthur is as-yet unfulfilled as he didn't really come go do a whole lot this episode except look really amazing in a plain blue tunic, supposedly undercover and unaccompanied on his latest "quest" to get captured in enemy territory.
I do wonder at what point would Merlin use magic in front of Arthur, etc. Because it seems like he'd just let Arthur die, or die himself before he would. Which is kind of insane. And as many people have pointed out, IT'S TIME TO GET ON WITH THINGS.
Good news, in that the producers seem to think so too and have promised a "game-changer" for season four. In bad news, season four will only be 10 episodes long because the BBC is having money problems. It warms my heart that the BBC and I have so much in common. It also makes me feel bad for viewing the show without spending any money, so I suppose a supporting contribution to a set of DVDs is in order (when said finances improve in 2011 due to positive thinking).
And season four also promises this:
... which is a show full of BAMFSpromise, oh yes. Particularly if Merlin is still the linchpin which holds it all together. Colin Morgan is a really amazing actor. Sometimes his lines are goofy, yes, but I'm kind of in awe of his talent. He sells his scenes. And he's pretty.
Season four = more Gaius, if sources are correct. I like Gaius.
I was pleased with the Morgana/Gwen scene, wherein Morgana says pretty much outright, yes, your suspicions are correct, I am an evil bitch who is plotting against my father and your boyfriend, join or die. And I expected Gwen to be all "Never, never will I betray Arthur!" *doe eyes* But that did not happen. Gwen is smart, and yay writers for acknowledging that. She's also very loyal, so it's perfectly in character for her to say "You know I've always been loyal to you." CUE SEXY GIRL EMBRACE. Gwen's in the game, good for her. That move was well-played.
I'm looking forward to next week, and next season, of Merlin. Will Arthur be jealous of Merlin's loveregard for G'waine? Will Lancelot try to recapture Merlin'sGwen's heart in spite of the fact that Arthur now claims it? Will the knights have an orgygather around the round table? Stay lubedtuned...
