Poll 2: Return of Poll

Dec 05, 2009 23:31

Moar Poll...Bigger, Longer and Uncut! ETA: cut because it's loooong.

Yesterday's Poll garnered quite a few responses. Luckily, those responses were intelligent and largely awesome, unlike me, who misspelled words and forced people to make choices between ill-defined categories.

So let's do it again! Yay!

To be clear, yes, there are no women in this poll. I know, I know, and yes, Buffy is a Noble Hero (thanks to scrollgirl and executrix for setting me straight), however, I would come up with different entries for a poll on the women characters because Forgivable Bastard isn't really applicable for a woman unless we're talking about Kara Thrace. This is about male characters we like, even when we know we shouldn't. (See sheenaghpugh's LJ for further clarification). In other words, how much are we willing to forgive before we lose interest in a character? (And are kittens at stake?)

Also, it seems that Noble Heroes run the gamut, from boring to preferable, and it's interesting to see definitions of what constitutes a True Hero and whether or not that makes them unwatchable. My examples of boring Noble Heroes are Paul Ballard (Dollhouse) and Robin Hood (BBC-A's Robin Hood). There are only so many speeches one can make on top of parapets, I think.

Interesting Noble Heroes would, for me, be Seeley Booth, Daniel Jackson, and Michael Westen (for example).

Darn, I forgot to include The Wire. Feel free to tell me what you think of McNulty, Bunk, Stringer Bell and Omar!
