Wow, that it high praise indeed. I am very grateful for that. I am new to SF as a genre, and I'm fascinated and fearful about jumping in, both as reader and writer.

At first, Sam and Dean were just split up, but then I figured if it was a mirror-verse, it should have two of them, and so...

I also have to say that I was influenced by "The Road" by Cormac McCarthy. It's probably the best book I've read all year and that was heartbreaking apocalyptic stuff beautifully rendered.

I think that the Librarian is what would become of me in such a case. ;)

You're absolutely right about needing more of Sam fitting back in at the end. There was more in my head, but I was tired, had reached 10,000 words, and was on a deadline. So I got lazy and skipped some extra scenes with him and Dean on the road, and then the two of them finally poolside at some pad in Los Angeles, Sam hiding behind really dark sunglasses and looking at a wet Dean and THEN saying his last lines.
