In related news, if you look at the actual characters people say they're going to nominate, the annual sidelining of female characters continues unabated. (It'd be interesting to find out the actual statistics, but since that'd involve looking up the genders of characters in fandoms one isn't familiar with, it'd be a really huge amount of work.)
