- The Truman Show: Dennis Hopper was originally cast as Christof, but walked off the set after his first day. Ed Harris replaced him and went on to win the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor and an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actor.
- Adaptation: Nicolas Cage has said that during the filming of this movie, he ignored all of his acting instincts and played the part of Charlie Kaufman exactly as director Spike Jonze asked him to. He then received an Academy Award nomination for it.
- Jesus Christ Superstar: According to Ted Neeley and Norman Jewison on the DVD commentary, the shepherd walking across the frame in the final shot of the film was never intended to be there, and just happened across the shot as they were filming. Because of the significance of a shepherd in the teachings of Christ, Jewison and the crew were struck profoundly by the timing of this shepherd crossing the field, and kept the shot. They got a perfect sunset, as well as a subtle depiction of the resurrection.
- The Secret Garden: Elijah Wood was turned down for the role of Colin.
- The Muppets' Christmas Carol: There is a store called "Micklewhite". Michael Caine's real name is Maurice Micklewhite.
- Caesar and Cleopatra: During filming, Vivien Leigh had a miscarriage which delayed production for 5 weeks.
- The Neverending Story: The original Auryn for this film now hangs in an enclosed glass display in Steven Spielberg's office.
- Serenity: Though the Trade Agent (the elderly man in the Trade Station who unlocks the safe) is played by Weston Nathanson, his voice was dubbed by Joss Whedon. According to Whedon, several of the stand-in voices from the early post-production stage remain in the final film, among them this and Morena Baccarin's voice as the computer at the beginning of the film.
- Star Trek: First Contact: Was released the same day that Mark Lenard (Sarek) died.
- Cruel Intentions: In the original script, the scene where Sebastian and Annette meet at the pool there is a reference to Ayn Rand's "The Fountainhead". When Sebastian asks Annette what she is reading she replies, "The Fountainhead." And when Sebastian compliments the book, she is surprised he knew the novel. Sebastian goes on to say, "I think the scene where Howard Roark makes love to Dominique Francon is the most romantic work in all literature." Annette replies, "Romantic? He rapes her." And Sebastian finishes with, "That's a matter of opinion."
