The question and answer meme which has been going around my flist as the "Buffy Interview" meme and related names, even though I think only one of the questions explicitly refers to Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Mostly it's on my method and history as a fanfic writer.

1. What was the first story you ever wrote? What inspired you to write it? ( Answer )

This was cool to read!

Also, I think any line of dialogue that starts with "Surely, Holmes. . ." is exempt from my rule -- since you're invoking one of the handful of characters in Western literature that just about everybody will recognize, it actually does more to place the reader than disorient them.

"Fucking cornfields" is still my favorite.

"Surely, Holmes. . . ." is narration, not dialogue, so it's exempt in any case. And I especially wanted to make clear the conceit of POV character Moriarty addressing an interior monologue to Holmes (referred to as you throughout) as early as possible.

But yes, I couldn't not mention "Fucking cornfields"!
