Sarah Jane Adventures "Gorgon, pt. 2"

"Serve the Gorgon" is the lamest chant ever. Don't these nuns know Latin?

Are we supposed to assume these are Roman Catholic or Anglican nuns, anyway? I don't have a problem with an anti-religious subtext (despite being a member of organized religion--and the Anglican Communion in particular to boot--myself), but an anti-papist one would be really upsetting. And everyone knows nuns are cool. (Well, most nuns I've known have been Sisters of Charity. They're awesome, at any rate.)

Weeping statue in an ep about evil nuns, eh?

Is it bad if I start calling Maria's parents Keith and Lianne? Because I totally think of them that way.

We can look at the Gorgon's face without turning to stone. Unlike in "Blink," where the camera's gaze was sufficient to keep the angels from moving.

They didn't even have Maria look through the mirror to see the Gorgon the way Perseus did. If they did, I'd say that the mirror exception explained why we can see the Gorgon via camera, but I learned from Buffy that video cameras don't use mirrors. That's why Spike showed up on camera.

And the icky heteronormativity continues. Sarah Jane doesn't need a husband. She has Mr. Smith Maria. (Which is somewhat less heteronormative if I choose to interpret it in the dirtybadwrong sense.)

(Why is every kid who is not Maria a boy, again?)
