What Jewel Staite Loves about Summer Glau
Jewel remembers being a child actor better than being a child, and so the thing she loves most about Summer is the wide-eyed look of wonder she had on her face the first time she stepped foot on the Serenity set. While to Jewel it was just another spaceship, to Summer it was a literal boatload of possibilities. Summer’s older than Jewel, but there’s something childlike about her too, and not just when she plays River. Things which long ago became old hat to Jewel are still exciting and new to Summer, and it breaks Jewel’s heart to think that one day Summer will become just as jaded as she is.
What Kaywinnit Lee Frye Loves about Captain Malcolm Reynolds
Kaylee loves Mal for always being the captain, for thinking he has to protect them all. She loves him for the way he always has to act as if he knows what he is doing, and for the fact that they all know quite well that he hasn’t a clue. She loves him for always doing the right thing in the end even if sometimes he takes a long time getting there. She loves him for loving them and protecting them and inviting them into his home and making them a crew and a family. She loves him for the way he talks about Serenity, and the way Serenity loves him right back. She loves Mal for not wanting to change her or make her better, but for loving her just the way she is, a fun-loving girl covered in engine grease.
