Wowie!
Okay so here's the wild and crazy ride called life. Two weeks ago we got an e-mail at work that the Director of Academic Support Services Worcester Campus had given notice.
I thought to myself - hmm - more money, shorter commute and a chance to jump back into a Director position. Then I thought - how could I possibly express interest in this position when I've only been here 6 months? It would look pushy and fickle and wrong.
Cut to last Thursday - e-mail from my supervisor asking if we can meet first thing. she wants to know if I would be willing to help her out with the vacancy in Worcester and had I given any consideration to the position. Thus approached I told her the truth and she told me that I have done an excellent job and she would support me in trying for this position if it's what I wanted - squee! She asked if she could let the Dean know about my interest in the position and willingness to help out.
This morning an e-mail went out college-wide that I am the Interim Director of Academic Support Services Worcester and Manchester. I am also getting a temporary salary increase to match the position while a search is conducted for a permanent Director. This following on the heels of some deep financial soul searching over our home budget.
