I've had it about to here with my Internet. I don't do fancy shit; I check my email, download a song or two from iTunes, and sometimes want to watch something on Hulu.

Kyle does some heavy-duty uploading and downloading, too, and he's never had a problem as long as he was plugged in directly (wireless is a different story). I think the actual difference between the speeds when you compare cable to DSL is very, very small -- I've never had a problem doing normal internet-y things like youtube, iTunes, etc.
Oh -- maybe try to download a new driver for your router? They sometimes update them and forget to tell you.
I blame the wireless router, basically. Also, I hate Time Warner, so why not blame them, too. We had TWC for a while but our connection sucked and there's a whole complicated story to go along with why we switched to DSL, including multiple home visits and HD channels not showing up, but suffice to say we're satisfied DSL customers.
