If you haven't finished this series yet, I would advise you not to...unless you enjoy having your heart trampled upon in a big WTF way. The anime is better, and it ended where it needed to, imo.
Sorry, didn't mean to spoil it...but it really is that bad. Not because of the age difference, but because you get so attached to the sweetness of their parent/child relationship...or at least I did.
You didn't spoil it, lady; like I said, I did some research before I reviewed (but unfortunately AFTER I'd read the two books) and went "DO NOT WANT". But the series before it got all fucked up is lovely.
Knowing that they aren't actually related by blood does not make it any less fucked up to me that they go on to have a sexual relationship. He's her adoptive father, for all intents and purposes. I was really hoping he'd end up with the one kid's mother and it's a cute story about him becoming an adult and trying to construct a better "working mother allowed to work" relationship with her than his parents had.
