Eh, Baltimore's safer than it seems! I'm in love with Hampden and Charles Street. ^_^ But I did grow up around here.

Thank you! I love the rather pathetic city attempt by the city to bolster... I don't know what by having "BELIEVE" signs everywhere. This was the best version of that I'd ever seen. ^_^

Hee! I don't think Michael has officially "written" anything since his D&D days, but he's always been extremely intelligent and witty. And a good sport about photographs. XD

Awww, it ain't so bad. ;^) Charles Street (the art and gay ghetto) and Hampden (JOHN WATERS!!!!! Ahem) are just gorgeous and heavily protected. I do think of the places my father took us when we were little when he worked in the inner city, for example a thrift store that had a bouncer (seriously) at eleven AM on a Saturday morning. And one of my favorite stories was driving by and seeing two people in close talks and a curious stance and asking "Dad, are they dealing drugs?" And my father gently reproaching me that I shouldn't assume right before the guy dropped pills into the chick's hand. I was all of eight, I think. XD

But seriously, Charles (The Walters! The Paper Moon diner!) and Hampden (Atomic Books! JOHN WATERS!!!!) are safe and sooo worth it. Ditto Edgar Allan Poe's grave.
