[ Ezio had woken up in some strange places in his lifetime, especially once he became an assassin. But this, this was way different than waking up in, say, a random woman's bed or a bale of hay. The smell was awful, the sheer white of the room blinding as he sat up. He was greeted by a woman, welcoming him to some unfamiliar city -- ]

[ Why does this place gotta hit him right in the feels? Desmond really, really is disliking Aliunde the more it goes on. His life story. ]

...Ezio? [ It's Ezio alright. He knows that accent and face. Except it's about thirty years younger than what he's used to now. Desmond is almost stunned. More at the fact that he's back, and younger, rather than seeing his ancestor. ]

[ Upon hearing his name, Ezio tenses, eyes narrowing under the shadow of his hood. He knows he can defend himself if necessary, but he still can't help but feel naked without his blades. ]

Who's there? Show yourself.

[ Oh, great. Ezio doesn't remember ever being in Aliunde. Otherwise he wouldn't be saying that. Desmond has a sudden sinking feeling about how this meeting is going to go. ]

Great.

[ Desmond sighs and is already on his way out of the den to the hospital. His white hood is up. Altair wanted him to keep a low profile for a while, so, he's been doing his best to stay out of the way of people and not obviously be an assassin. Have fun talking to the air for a bit, Ezio. ]

[ That response warrants a frown and a glare. He waits a moment longer, as if expecting the unexplained voice to continue. Alas, it does not, and Ezio is left looking like a fool in the middle of some strange and unfamiliar city. He does not linger long, though, not trusting the silence - especially after they had said his name. Someone knew who he was ( that wasn't saying much. A lot of people in Italy knew who he was, if only by name ) and staying in one place would only make him more susceptible to attack.

A passing group of people makes it easy enough to blend in. Good luck with that, Desmond. ]

[ Then it's a damn good thing that Desmond has his Eagle Vision fully restored in Aliunde. He doesn't expect Ezio to stay in one place. Altair didn't, and there's no way a younger Ezio is going to. So, Desmond takes to the roofs. He pulls himself up at the top and perches on the edge. The world fills with colors: black, blue, white... and eventually yellow. There's a bit of a cocky grin on his face at the fact that he's now tailing one of the men who taught him how to tail. The amusement is just helping him ignore the possibility that Ezio may not know who the hell he is. Maybe the universe is going to be nice to him for once.

Probably not.

Desmond stands up to his full height and begins to tail his ancestor. How long is it going to be before he notices? ]

[ Of course he isn't going to stay put, because he needs to find answers. He doesn't have time to waste here in this strange city. This Aliunde. He had been all over Italy and he could not recognize such a name; which was the most alarming part so far. That, and the fact that there was definitely a disembodied voice saying his name a few minutes ago.

He continues to weave through the crowds, staying in groups as best he can. Something is nagging at the back of his mind and he can't quite tell what it is. He knows something is missing; that instinctive sense that he's had long before he even became an assassin. It's not there, there are no colours, no trails. Nothing. He is left to fend for himself and even without his eagle sense, he can tell someone is following him. His eyes dart over to spot Desmond, and he cuts through a group of people and into an alleyway as quickly as possible. ]

[ Part of keeping a low profile is not wearing any hidden blades. He has a throwing knife stashed away, just in case, but he doesn't want people figuring out he's an assassin. Javert already called him out on it and he was out of everyone's sight. His eyes follow Ezio as he goes into the alleyway and he steps back from the edge of the rooftop, turning to walk down the side that faces the alleyway. Desmond steps back onto the edge of the rooftop before crouching down and looking straight at his ancestor.

Damn. He really is young.

He gives a brief nod to the man. He's expecting his ancestor to be able to recognize the tricks and trades of the assassins. Tailing, watching. If he doesn't figure it out? Desmond can show him the burned finger he has. He received his mark when he was made an official assassin. He just knows how to cover it up when he's at work so no one notices. There's a debate inside him if he should hop down to the alleyway or let Ezio come to him.

And he decides to see if Ezio is going to come to him. ]

[ Eagle sense or no, he could tell what the other was doing; sneaking and tailing and hiding in plain view, only visible to those who knew what to look for. Another assassin? Well, he'd certainly find out one way or another.

He watches, carefully judging the man's movements until he stills. If he wants Ezio to come to him, then so be it. Better this happens on a rooftop where no innocent will notice than in an alleyway with people passing by constantly. Soon enough the Italian is climbing along the edge of the building, keeping his distance as he hops up onto the roof to join Desmond. ]

I assume you were following me for a reason?

[ Once Ezio has joined him, Desmond steps off the edge and at his full height. He looks the man over. Not as young as he could have been, but certainly no where near the days in Istanbul. Hell, he doesn't even look like he does when he was building the Brotherhood in Rome. That sinking feeling returns. It's nagging at the back of his mind, but Desmond is ignoring it. He doesn't want to entertain the idea of having the one ancestor who knows him not know him. Even if that's is going to be what he gets.

Desmond raises his hand and pulls back his sleeve to reveal his scar on his finger. It's more or less the same as bending the ring finger down to show being an assassin, but different times mean different ways. ]

You mean besides the fact that we're both assassins, right? [ Chalk it up to humor, Desmond's lovely defensive shield. ] I'm surprised to see that you're back, Ezio.

[ Ezio keeps his distance, relaxing only a little when the man shows him his scarred finger. He had his own burned recently; only in the beginning stages of scarring. The familiarity of such a symbol eased him slightly, but not enough to quell the confusion and annoyance at his current predicament. ]

Si, besides that. [ he's about to say more, but then Desmond says his name again. Was he the one calling him before? ] See me back? Funny, I do not recall being here at all.

Yeah... I kind of figured that. [ There's a frown on his face but he pushes that all to the side. It's not the time to focus on that. ] The woman in charge here likes screwing around with us. I'm guessing that you pretty much don't know anything about this place. [ It's weird to be telling the man who should know all the answers... well, answers. ]

Aliunde is another planet. We're all brought here against our wills. The Head Doctor basically likes tormenting us whenever she pleases and keeping us trapped here. Sometimes people go home, sometimes they don't.
