[Ezio has been growing restless. Finally over the cold he had been getting, he has opted to spend the day anywhere but indoors. It's like being caged, sometimes, being within Aliunde, and yet being indoors all day while here is even worse. After years, decades, of running, climbing, jumping, battling, killing and fighting, barely surviving, and ( Read more... )

I meant no offence, I simply do not know what to call your... ah, children. I have never seen anything like them before. [He listens but he can't help scoffing at Loki calling himself old. There is a distinct difference in being alive many years and being old.]

You are a boy still, not old at all. You have age, you do not have the weary experience an old man has. You have your life ahead of you. If you do not wish to change, then you must at least accept that the world itself will change without you. Time does not wait even for an immortal, amico mio, and putting blocks up for yourself will only lead to your own agony. [He looks over to him, frowning more. He wonders if Loki even realises that having the chance to be hated by his brother is a blessing in itself. Having lost both of his brothers and his father at a young age, Ezio doesn't enjoy hearing of people who shun and expect only the worst of the family they at least still have.]

You do not truly understand what a parent feels, then. You speak of your child as if it should be hated because you call it a monster, and you assume your parents would not have you, even after everything you have done or have not done. You think ill of them without even hearing them say a thing about it. [He shakes his head at him, amazed at how soothing his own tone still is.] I have seen enough of how your brother fusses at you in public, I can only assume he does so even more in private. Considering that a man who could hate you is beyond foolish, Loki, regardless of who he would marry. Revenge, in the end, gets you nowhere. It ruins your life and it draws you away from the people who want and need and love you. Revenge is more painful, when all is said and done, than simply walking away from a situation that is done with.

You are presuming again, Loki. You may seek to end your life in the future, but no father who raises a boy as wise as you can be cruel enough to wish you dead rather than to wish for you to return under his wing. You have not spoken to him, si? So you do not know what it is he feels. Your father is King, this I know, and kings can be some of the most flawed men in history. They do not know how to do much beyond be kings, and so their love comes out wrong, their fears for their family weaken them, and their children suffer. I have seen many great men who have not known how to protect the ones they love. [Ezio sighs, and he actually can hear his heart pounding, though that is his own abnormal gift, the senses he has heightened beyond what a man should have.]

I sense the fear in you. [He looks at him pointedly then, and gets to his feet after a moment, pacing the rooftop while he thinks over his words so far.] If you love him, and he loves his brother in return, is that not enough to struggle through the pain, amico? You have spoken of Asgard, your parents, and your brother as if they are the most treasured things in your world, the most important things in your heart, even if you are crippled with fears of rejection. If you can speak this passionately about these things, I do not think you have truly given up. Fear is something we all have, it we let it control us, we fall to ruin. We need to let it inspire us to hold tightly to what we love, even through the pain.

[He crosses his arms, taking a slow breath in as he looks over Aliunde.] These people are not your people, or my people. We are all a mess of men and women who do not know when we will go home, if ever. Killing everyone in Aliunde, killing everyone that ever wronged you, will leave you with nothing. Only pain and loneliness. [He shrugs.] I am un assassino, I have done this, I have killed for thirty-six years of my mortal life, and even the wrongs I have righted do not make up for what pain I have caused for myself some days. Do not let revenge eat away at you. You have an incredible mind, I would hate to see it ruined.

[Ezio merely listens this time. Loki does not see home as safety, and it appears he does not quite know himself any longer, and although Ezio can relate, he knows his own life lessons are not going to all apply here. He looks at him after he's done speaking and grips his shoulder, giving him a light shake (congratulations, Loki, you're family now) as he casts his gaze over Aliunde once more.]

It would seem to me that you need to seek some kind of sense of self before you can expect anything good to come. Revenge is not sweet, it is bitter and full of pain, even after the last blow is dealt it does not make the pain you feel go away. You may have killed for centuries, but you kill because you have to, you do not do it for the greater good, you do it because you are told by those around you that you must. Your people, if I recall the stories well enough, are warriors and soldiers. You, in all the tales, are not. [He crosses his arms, looking up at him with a small smirk.] You are the God of Mischief, si? You are not the God of War, do not incite it when you are not master of it. All revenge causes is war.

[He looks him over, remembering all the things Loki of mythology is god of, and he can see the different things in him, the effeminacy and the firmness, and he smiles a bit. Leonardo would love him, he would have all the questions imaginable, and he wishes he could let his much wiser old friend take up this lecture.] Your talents are better suited elsewhere, and until you find yourself, your own purpose, you will not be happy, regardless of what love others try to show you.

And then it would leave you with nothing, Loki. Follow my poor example. My family was murdered, save for my mother and sister, when I was very young. I took up the mantle of Assassino to seek revenge, and none of the blood I shed made it better, none of it brought back my brothers or my father. Revenge is not something you need.

[He shakes his head a little bit, giving him a small smile at the fact he would have preferred another title. He thinks mischief is a good word to describe Loki as a whole, but he also knows there are other words that were used and he does not think for one moment that Loki is simply just trouble. He can see how much Loki loves and hopes and wishes for so much more, and it reminds him entirely of himself, and a lot of Desmond, and it's that which draws Ezio to this broken young god.] Sometimes, making a title your own is all you can do, when it is forced upon you. [But he laughs a little then.] Merda, Loki, you should not speak that way about a woman, even if you do not like her.

[He gives him a bit of a sad look at the fact he does not have a reason to exist, and he sighs softly.] When my revenge was over... I had no purpose either, so I sought answers to many old questions. Perhaps you need to do some soul searching too, giovane. [He sighs again, this time tugging Loki into a hug. It's not something Ezio likes to do, he has only ever tended to hug family, and Leonardo, but Loki needs this, he can sense it in him.]
