I do not know if that is an appropriate question. I... [He pauses and reaches for a pair of swimming shorts that look like they'll fit.] These should do well.

They don't look wide enough. I could have taken your measurements when I got Steve's, you know.

My measurements? [He pauses, eyes wide for a moment, and then it clicks and he lets out a small breath.] I had not realised you would need the measurements of trousers for such things.

I am not sure what you meant. [He shakes his head faintly and then tries to lean back to see the size of his jeans.] I do not know my size. I usually buy what fits comfortably. Jane was the first to give me real mortal clothing.

I do not think I want to try any on. [He doesn't like the idea of it.] I will get what I think will be fine. [If they get uncomfortable, he'll take them off at the beach!]
