[Natasha had been the one to call for the meeting and it was easily enough done in the privacy of their meeting room. It had not been used yet but it was fully furnished and no one tended to go in unless it was to grab an extra chair and later to return it to the large table in there

What we need to do first is air out any grievances.

[Straight and to the point. She was the highest ranking (if only) S.H.I.E.L.D. officer here, and Fury would be disappointed if this team broke apart before it even got off the ground.]

[Tony's seated as far away as possible, arms crossed over his chest and looking annoyed at having been pulled away from his work for some stupid group meeting.]

What're you looking at me for, Thor?

[ Steve's on the opposite side of Tony, just glaring at him. ] I think you know the answer to that.

[flipsalltables]

[Thor gives Steve a hard look but nods slightly to Natasha.] A good idea. You should go first, Tony.

[ironfail]

I don't have any "grievances." [He's going to be stubborn as fuck because he's still grumpy from the rest of this week, okay.]

Oh wait, except Steve told me to quit the team.

[The tone of the meeting is already turning bad, and the tension was thick. She sighs.]

Steve, Tony... act like adults, please?

[ He bites back his retort at Natasha's chastising, but continues t fix Tony with a glare. ] We can't afford to have people who aren't going to cooperate on the team, so I made the suggestion that he might be better off elsewhere.

And that was uncalled for, Steve. He is as much a part of this team as you are. [Thor sighs heavily at the whole situation.] You are both being difficult. Tony, whatever your issue is, say it.

I don't have an issue. He's the one that can't take a joke. [Steve, can't you see that's just how Tony makes friends. /sobs] Maybe I actually would be better off on my own.

Steve, you don't have the ability to remove him. Only Director Fury does. [Ugh. This was turning into one big mess. She rubbed the bridge of her nose.]

If this team is going to work, we need to find a way to coexist.

[originalavenger]

Fury isn't here. [ Steve's tone is blunt. ] And just because I don't get my kicks being an ass doesn't mean I don't have a sense of humor, Tony.

[flipsalltables]

That is enough, both of you. [Thor hates having to be stern with his friends but this is getting silly now.] Fury's presence is not what matters. What's important is that you two obviously have a problem with each other that you need to sort out right now.

[He glances at Natasha, certain they might have to break them up if they get too bad.] You are part of this team, Tony, because you're valuable to it, as we all supposedly are, but this isn't a team when we're behaving like children.

[ironfail]

Look, I don't need this circle time bullshit. [He stands up, hands flat on the table like he's going to push off and fling himself out of the room at any second.] Steve's a big boy and he can solve his problems on his own, whatever they might be.

[Natasha was up just as fast, looking to Tony.] Sit your ass down before I make you sit down.

[Frankly, she's had it. This was the exact reason why she called this meeting.] I don't care what problems we all have. Steve, Tony, you can work this out on your own time. We are a team, and we will act like a team. Do you all hear me?

My only problem is that Mister Stark was apparently never taught how to play well with others. [ Steve leans forward, resting one hand on the table. He's not standing, yet. ]

[flipsalltables]

Steve, that's enough! [He is all but livid with how poorly this is going and if it's any sign of how things will be on Earth he hopes they never do find a way to get him back to Midgard from Asgard.]

Natasha is right. This isn't about you or you. [He gives Tony a pointed look and then Steve at each of the you's.] This is about us as a unit and if we can't work together as friends then we're doomed from this moment already.

So be silent on this ridiculous fight and deal with it in your own time, like adults.
