[Gabriel liked a party. Any excuse was a good excuse and frankly, July 4th included some of the best parts of a truly fantastic party- food, fun, friends and family and fireworks. He could give or take the national pride, but he could forgive it in humans. What was wrong with being proud of the good things about your home?

Especially if those things included amazing hamburgers. True, he wasn't mad for them but Dean had cooked them to perfection and with ketchup and pickle and cheese and mustard in there too you just couldn't go wrong.

He was sat on one of the chairs by the pool, keeping an eye on the little ones in it while tropical coloured fish dashed about in the water - his own little touch- munching happily through a burger and, surprisingly enough for him, there wasn't an alcoholic drink in sight, just a can of soda on the floor by the chair. Setting a good example blah blah blah.]

[And who is this sliding up to you, Gabe? Does that mischievous smirk look familiar? No? What about that perfect rack? Yes, that's much more difficult to forget.]

[Gabriel glanced up, she certainly wasn't an unfamiliar form and definitely not an unwelcome one. He moved over on the sun lounger, giving her room to join him if she wanted. He put the hamburger down on the paper plate.]

Hey, look who it is! My favourite femme fatale! Come on, squeeze in.

You enjoying yourself?

[Considering how close they've become in the last few weeks, there's no hesitation as Naomi curls up beside him. Though she does make a point of staring at his burger before giving him a pointed, incredibly serious look.] So, you are capable of eating something other than sweets without being held at gunpoint.

[But that teasing grin doesn't stay away for long.] It's not the usual crowd I hang out with, but I'm still here, aren't I?

[Gabriek made a face at her in reply, hardly impressed.] I'm acting as food taster. Dean might try and poison everyone, you see. Wanted by the government back home for a series of nasty murders. Besides, dump enough ketchup and mustard on one of those babies and it's as bad for to as a whole pound of chocolate.

And, just to point it out, gun point is about as frightening for me as it is for Greed. I'm just less active in my persuit of showing it.

[The raised his eyebrows at that, before grinning himself.] And for a minute I thought you were coming to see me. So, are you going to up and leave early because of th lack of somber French inspectors? [Of course that wasn't her usual crowd, but he loved to tease, curling his arm around her.]

Oh, you caught me. [Her dark eyes roll as she leans slightly into his touch.] This party is just not somber or serious enough for my refined tastes. Needs more stern expressions and childish fits of moodiness.

Of course I'm here to see you. Someone has to give me some entertainment, don't they?

Dad in heaven, is misery guts still sulking? [Gabriel shook his head, a more resigned smile on his face. Remind him to never save Javert's eternal soul again, the man was just completely ungrateful, acting like Gabriel had added something onto his punishment rather than helping.] Sometimes gorgeous, I just don't know how you cope.

Me? Really? Not got your eyes peeled for anyone that might be even more fun? You met Deano yet?

No, he's doing much better for the most part. [More or less. She had a few choice words in regards to that job of her husband's, but that was a private matter between them and not even Gabriel was going to get her to bent out of shape about it today.]

Your friend Dean? No, not face-to-face at least. We spoke briefly when his invitation went out, but that was it.

Glad to hear it! Sometimes, that man of yours... [But he let's it go. If Javert isn't sulking about being thoroughly annoying to his friend then he'll manage. after all, it's not for him to tell. But he needs to finish up on it, otherwise Naomi is going to press him.] Sometimes I wonder if you've trained him al all.

Maybe I'll have to introduce you. I'm not sure what use you might find for him but he's easy on the eyes and as long as you don't give him a length of wood, fairly unannoying.

Are you doubting me, Gabriel? [Enjoy a playful nudge to your side for that comment, Mister Angel.] Of course he's well trained. I wouldn't take a husband I didn't have full control over, now would I?

[Uh. Naomi generally is clued into Gabriel's jokes enough that she knows what the hell he is talking about. This is clearly not one of those times.] I think I'm missing something.

Never doubted you for a second. It's Inspector Hunter that worries me. [He sticks his tongue out at her when she manages to jap her elbow into his ribs but it's all childish good fun.

Until he realises that she doesn't know about his 'death' at the hand of Dean Winchester and frankly hr's not about to mention it. Not the one or the place.] Vampires. Back home he hunts vampires, zombies, that sort of thing. Never go to his house for Trick-or-treat.

[Oh dear, Naomi certainly gives a chuckle at that. Javert would not be pleased to hear himself being called Inspector Hunter.] That's just terrible. No wonder we get along so well.

[But as her soft laughter dies down, Naomi can't help but tilt her head a little curiously at Dean, the vampire slayer.] Really? What odd company you keep.

Terrible? Oh, you mean Inspector Hunter? I rather like it. And if he's going to tell me you should call yourself Doctor Javert, well, he can stuff it up his jumper- forgive my French. [And so saying he snaps himself something sweet and fruity in a cocktail glass, the rim glittering with gold-flaked sugar.]

Well, there was some fate-of-the-world stuff going on and he had a cute brother. We were bough to run into each other at some point. I just hurried stuff up a bit.

[All right, Naomi actually frowns very slightly at that.] No, he's right. I really should have introduced myself that way. I just didn't see the point before he arrived here. It just led to- [her dark-haired head shakes] -too many questions that I didn't want to answer. [She obviously didn't want to be the poor woman with the missing husband.]

[A shrug of her slim shoulders against him.] I'm a terrible wife. Don't be too hard on him. He's an old fashioned sort of man, if you hadn't noticed. Though I don't mind the new nickname when it is just the two of us. Inspector Hunter is rather amusing, isn't it?

[And with that snap, Naomi gives the drink in hand a quick stare before happily changing the subject. How long will it take for her to get use to that little trick?] You know, one day, I will want that entire story. [She leans back against him comfortably, tilting her head back to enjoy that lovely sun.] But let's save it for one of our evenings together.

[Gabriel rolls his eyes at that.] Where are you from, the 1950s? You don't have to use his name at all. You aren't a possession. You wear the ring, don't you? You love him? That's it. That makes you married. Names don't come into it. Your business is your own, Naomi, you were in a strange place full of people and, well, things, that you didn't know. We can forgive you for being worried, for holding back. I didn't exactly introduce myself as the arch-angel Gabriel. [Dad, didn't humans love to make rules for themselves? Make things all the more complicated.

He sighs, a rueful grin appearing on his lips and he pulls her a little closer to his side.] Don't worry so much, okay? You're not a terrible wife. Trust me, I've been a terrible wife. [He grins slightly at that.] Although at the time they didn't call me that. They called me a terrible prince-consort but it's pretty much the same thing.

I think it might take several evenings, gorgeous. And a lot of wine. Trust me. Dean and his brother are a very interesting set of humans.

[The cold, probing stare Naomi Javert levels on Gabriel looked as if it had the intensity to burn a hole right through his divinity to get right on through to that manhe was on the inside.

Because even if he started off as some higher being, the woman certainly knows him well enough to see he's more human than angel anymore.]
